PAVHNA

PAVHNA: “First time in my life, I travelled from my Province to Islamabad to participate in four days RHIYA youth summit. For the first time in the history of District Killa Saifullah large female youth from the district participated in a function out side the district. It was a great experience. We avail the opportunity to listen and share experience with number of people including Donors, parliamentarians and even prime minister who I saw first time. I sought the opportunity to express my views on a number of topics at a national level event, I felt an important person being heard by even decision makers. It was first instance in my life to have made a speech in such a big function. The NEWS and DAWN representatives wanted to interview me, I shared my views and was extremely happy that this will be printed in media. I am more confident now to negotiate with my parents and community members about my rights including liberty to move freely and making informed choices on all matters related to my life including RHR. It is all because of RHIYA interventions that did advocate for us and empowered us to become advocate for ourselves. Fatima Bibi Muslim Bagh City, Kkila saifullah.

“An elderly woman within the community after seeking permission from YFC staff and girls started coming to YFC regularly, sitting and listening to the ARH sessions. Following the session on family planning and abortion the woman approached the counselor and said her unmarried daughter was pregnant and she did not know how to deal with the issue as it could result in the girl being killed. The counselor gave the woman information on the availability of safe abortion services and referred her to the RH clinic, which provided safe abortion services. The girl had a safe abortion and this was kept strictly confidential – the girl remains within her family”. By ‘PAVHNA RHIYA counselor, YFC in Kila Saifullah District
